Hot Damn, It’s Decorative Gourd Season

Despite suffering from the weirdest 24-hour virus I’ve ever had (seriously, the absolute worst headache I’ve ever had, coupled with crazy chills and a 102+ fever) we spent Sunday afternoon out at Kohler Farms in Prospectville for some old fashioned pumpkin picking. Despite having lived in nearby Horsham for a few years when I was in college, I had never even heard of the little village nor the sprawling farm. With dad knocked on his butt and junior down for a nap, we were worried about missing our 2 p.m. meetup time with friends but, for once, being late paid off as a crazy but brief rainstorm rolled through while we were still on the highway. Despite the sloppy conditions, Max got to take his first hay ride and I got to look like a fool taking photos of all the stuff in the farm market (pumpkins, decorative gourds, and Indian corn. Oh my!).

Fun place, though, and a nice change from our usual haunt, Linvilla Orchards. The corn maze is a little creepy, I must note. One of friends and his son disappeared into it for quite some time and all attempts to reach him via cell phone were foiled. They emerged unscathed, the Children of the Corn having settled for easier prey.
